Woman Writing

"Two or three things I know for sure, and one of them is that to go on living, I have to tell stories, that stories are the one sure thing I know to touch the heart and change the world."  ~Dorothy Allison

Writing with Soul

All the wisdom we need is within us: we need only to listen carefully to hear it.  Writing is such a useful "listening" tool because it can take us places we didn't plan to go. In this workshop series, we'll use various writing techniques to listen for and record the still, small voice of the soul.  We'll draw upon various spiritual and wisdom traditions to gain access to our highest selves.

Writing with Soul is especially useful for those who are interested in making writing part of their daily lives.  Writers will find techniques for overcoming blocks, spiritual practices that invite the muse to whisper in your ear, and a writing rhythm that can initiate a lifelong habit.

This course, facilitated by Prudence Tippins, takes place at the Calliope Center twice a month for four months.

Writing with Soul is also available as an e-mail-based writing mentorship. In this arrangement, your personal muse creates writing prompts specifically for you, based on a weekly or bi-monthly telephone or e-mail conversation. You then use the prompts to create work that both feeds you spiritually and helps you grow as a writer. If you choose, you may opt to submit pieces for comment/critique each session.

In both the course and the e-mail mentorship, the key is linking your writing with your deepest inner processes; letting go of resistance through consistent practice and rewarding outcomes.

$25 per session, plus optional feedback (hourly rate)
